Performing with the State Ballet of Rhode Island
As the official school of The State Ballet of Rhode Island, Brae Crest offers its advanced students unparalleled opportunities to perform as part of a professional company. This direct pipeline allows students to gain invaluable stage experience and learn SBRI's repertoire, which includes both classical masterpieces and original works. Advanced classes at Brae Crest specifically include learning choreography from the historic ballet repertoire, preparing students for the professional-level performances.
Student-Focused Showcases
A key highlight for students is the summer showcase, an integral part of the school's summer intensive program. This showcase offers intermediate and advanced session students, and sometimes select younger dancers, the chance not only to perform but also to gain firsthand experience in the various facets of a production, including costuming and technical aspects.
These free public performances showcase classical variations and new choreography created just for the program.
Additionally, students participating in the summer intensive often have the distinct opportunity to perform on The State Ballet of Rhode Island's (SBRI) Outdoor Stage at the same location, providing a wonderful platform to share their progress and artistry.
Project Ballet – Coffee Hours
An intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how a ballet is created, staged right in our Lincoln studio. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Herci Marsden, students assist company dancers with demonstrations on pointe-shoe tying, ballet technique, and choreography excerpts—then perform for a small audience over coffee and light refreshments.
